NRI TDP Bay Area unit Celebrated N.T. Rama Rao’s 86th Birth Anniversary
NRI TDP Bay Area unit and Park Theater (CA Cinema) organized the 86th Birth Anniversary of TDP Founding President and Ex-Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Late Dr. Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), on May 28th evening at Park Theater, Fremont, California. The stage was well decorated and adorned with NTR's pictures and TDP banners and flowers leaving the audience with a distinct impression of celebrations. Several members of the community along with prominent leaders attended the event.
Mrs. Vijaya Aasuri started the program by welcoming the attendees to the gathering and talked about NTR as the Pride of Telugus and the role he played in establishing an identity for Telugu People and Culture all over the world. Vijaya stated that NTR’s films and his ideas provided not only entertainment but also reality of the life stories that were very enlightening. The film stories included mythological, social, and folk themes. Vijaya invited Mr. Jayaram Komati (NRI TDP National Committee member) onto the stage.
Speaking at this occasion, Mr. Jayaram Komati applauded NTR’s tireless efforts in popularizing the Telugu language and Telugu culture throughout the world. At this occasion, Jayaram announced that NRI TDP Bay Area unit has established two scholarships in the memory of NTR. These scholarships will be given to two students towards their four-year Bachelors Degree program in Engineering in Andhra Pradesh. The Bay Area NRI TDP will donate the funds for these scholarships. The selection criteria and application process for the scholarships will be posted on the Bay Area NRI TDP website. Jayaram praised the local NRI TDP for coming up with this great program and contributions, which will help the poor and needy students towards their education. The attendees cheered the announcement with a big round of applause.
At this occasion, NRI TDP leaders such as, Suresh Reddy Vuyyuru, Satish Ambati, Ramakrishna and Bhakta Balla have remembered NTR for his great contributions to the Telugu community.
Park Theater management shared their great feelings and respect of NTR. All of the speakers have appealed the attendees to continue embracing and promoting the Telugu culture and tradition with the spirit from NTR’s work.
All the attendees paid homage to NTR by offering flowers and prayers. Two huge cakes was cut as a part of the event. The attendees included several of local community leaders and such as Vijaya Aasuri, Satish Chilukuri, Veeru Vuppala, Ravi Thiruveedhula, Srilu Veligeti, Karun Veligeti, Srini Mangipudi, Ramesh Konda, Sudha Mangipudi, Sreedhar Chava, etc. have graced the occasion and paid tributes to Late NTR. Park Theater management and Bay Area NRI TDP thanked the attendees for making the event a grand success in spite of this being on the working day.
