Bay Area Telugu Association (BATA) and Cancer Institute Foundation (CIF) and Ravi Tax Services are jointly hosting a Telugu Musical Concert, “SwaraSudha”, to be held on Jan 19, 2008, starting at 5:30PM at Chabot College Auditorium, Hayward, California. This event is being sponsored by prominent local businesses such as Scopus Consulting Group, Raji Insurance, and Peacock Indian Café. The objective of this event is to promote awareness about the CIF and also raise funds for the Cancer Institute, Chennai, India. Artists from ‘VDAZE’ group are schedule to perform at this event. VDAZE is a well known group of artists have been giving performances in the Bay Area as well as thought out the nation. Also, BATA artists are scheduled to participate in the cultural program along with performing Sankranthi Bhogi Pallu & Bommala Koluvu.
The Cancer Institute was founded in 1954 by Dr.Muthulaksmi Reddy with Gandhian principles, India's first woman medical graduate and social re-former. Dr. Reddy, woman of fortitude and a vision founded the autonomous charitable comprehensive Cancer centre under the auspices of Women’s India Association (WIA). It has grown from a 2 room centre to 423 beds of which 297 are free. It has state of the art facilities for diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of cancers as well as rehabilitation. The journey of the Institute has been continuing at a steady pace thanks to unwavering efforts of Dr. Krishnamurthy who is the son of Dr. Reddy. Dr. Krishnamoorthy has been a campus resident and still active even today. Annually, the Institute sees over 110,000 patients. Over the years, they have established and provided the means to make a difference in the fight against cancer, through dedication, vision and philanthropy of people like you all over the world.
Executive Committee members and volunteers of BATA and CIF have been working diligently for past 6 weeks in publicizing and promoting this event. BATA and CIF requests all to attend this event and generously support CIF for maintaining and enhancing Free cancer treatment services that are being provided by Cancer Institute, Chennai, India.
