My name is Taara Rangarajan and I am 23 years old. I am a resident of Sunnyvale, California and I am a 2007 graduate of UMASS Amherst. I have been campaigning for this exciting presidential election across the country in New Hampshire, New Jersey, Texas and now Pennsylvania. I am eager to begin my political career and I need your help.

I am writing to ask for your support in my candidacy to become a California Delegate at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Convention in August, 2008. On Sunday, April 13th at 2:00pm at Cubberley Theatre in Palo Alto there will be a caucus to elect local delegates.  In order to vote on April 13th, you must be a registered democrat living in the 14th Congressional District, which includes Sunnyvale, Saratoga, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Mountain View, Redwood City, and most of Santa Clara County. FAQ

1)      What is the D.N.C. Convention?

Is the large gathering of elected officials, party leaders, delegates and super delegates of the Democratic Party before an election to confirm a presidential nominee for the November election.  August 25-27 the DNC Convention will be held in Denver, Colorado.

2)     What is a delegate?

California sends 241 delegates to the DNC Convention. The role of a delegate is to represent their states and local congressional districts at the National Convention prior to a presidential election.  These are district level delegates not to be confused with "super-delegates."

3)     Registration- Are you an Independent or Republican who wants to participate?

The only people eligible to participate in the caucus are registered democrats living in the 14th District. If you are currently registered as an independent voter or a decline to state voter or you can still register on the day of the caucus as a democrat.  Another option is to re-register right now using: http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_vr.htm.

4)     Non-Residents of the 14th Congressional District

Voters living outside the 14th Congressional District are ineligible to vote at the caucus. However, they are still welcome to join us for the event. It will be great to show a large support group at the caucus. Also your help in spreading the word to those living in the 14th District will also be appreciated. 5) How can you help?

So far I am running against over 15 other people, many of whom are quite qualified. Only one female will be selected.
